Camp Kum-Ba-Yah is for children ages 5-12 years-old.
We also offer Counselor-In-Training (CIT) opportunities for teenagers 14-15 years-old.

We are excited to offer Camp Expedition again this summer! Camp Expedition, a joint camp between Camp Kum-Ba-Yah and Amazement Square, will focus on environmental stewardship and exploration. Learn how to skin-dive with flippers, snorkels, and goggles, make your own nature book, fish dissection, rafting on the James River, and so much more!
Camp Expedition is for children ages 9-12 years-old.
Camp Expedition Session 4: July 8- July 12
Camp Expedition Session 6: July 22- July 26
We have increased our rates this year to reflect the increasing costs of providing camp. We will be offering flexible, individualized payment plans to meet each family's needs. We will continue to offer Campership Assistance to qualified applicants.
Camp Fees Session 1, 2, 3, 4*, 5*, 6*, and 7: $235 per session or 2 sessions for $370
Enroll in 2 sessions and receive a $100 discount ($370). Sessions do not have to be consecutive.
Camp Expedition Fees (Session 4 and 6): $275 per session.
Camp Discovery Fees (Session 5): $300 per session.

INTERNATIONAL COUNSELORS WANTED
Each summer, Camp Kum-Ba-Yah welcomes international counselors from around the world. In recent summers we have had international counselors from Trinidad, Germany, France, Egypt, and Kenya! International counselors are hosted by local families, and we are always seeking families willing to share their home with these special friends.

Campership Aid
Camp Kum-Ba-Yah is committed to providing a wholesome camping experience for the children of Lynchburg. Fifty percent of our children attend with full or partial “campership” assistance provided by the Camp. We are proud to offer the experience of Camp Kum-Ba-Yah to all children who want to attend, and we couldn't do it without our generous donors, corporate sponsors, and community supporters. A kick off to the James River Batteau Festival
Camp Kum-Ba-Yah is in partnership with Lynch's Landing and the James River Batteau Festival to create an unbelievable day on our treasured James River. All proceeds benefits Camp Kum-Ba-Yah. Check out this video
Join our 4th annual river race on the James River. Paddle from Percival's Island to Mount Athos public boat ramp. Events begin at the River-Edge Park in Madison Heights. (Next to James River Float Company)
Fun Float- Is open to anyone that just wants to enjoy the river, support Camp KBY, but is not up for the competition. Cost for the fun float is $15.00. This includes your tube, life jacket, and shuttle back to River-Edge park.
Registration fee : Pre registration $20
Day of Race $20
Fun Float $15
After the race please join us at River-Edge Park for awards, and lunch by Magnolia Foods! Bag Lunches will be availiable for $7.50.
Free shuttle provided by James River Float Company!!! Signing up for this race day could not be easy enough!
